Extreme Sandbox Announces Second Site to Open This Spring in Texas
Top-rated Minnesota adventure attraction featured on Shark Tank Jan. 5 will open new location at Tanglewood Resort and Conference Center in Pottsboro, TX spring 2016
HASTINGS, Minn. (Jan. 4, 2016) – Business is heading south for Extreme Sandbox – just over an hour north of Dallas, to be exact. The Minnesota top-rated adventure attraction will open its second location this spring at Tanglewood Resort and Conference Center in Pottsboro, TX. Business has grown dramatically for Extreme Sandbox. This new Texas location is a first step toward national expansion plans for Founder/CEO Randy Stenger, who will be featured on the Jan. 5 episode of ABC-TV’s hit show Shark Tank. The new location is tentatively scheduled to open April 15, 2016.
Extreme Sandbox provides guests with a truly unique opportunity to fulfill their childhood dreams of operating real construction rigs. The adventure takes place in a 10-acre “sandbox,” with supervision from highly trained expert instructors who help guests learn and master the machines, ensure safety and provide a fun and memorable experience that can include “golfing” with an excavator, crushing a car, completing challenge tasks, and more.
“We are thrilled to partner with this well-known Texas resort to provide our signature high caliber entertainment experience for our fans in the south,” said Stenger. “Tanglewood Resort and Conference Center approached us earlier this year about the possibility of adding our activity to their resort. We quickly recognized it is a first-class resort with excellent corporate group lodging and offerings, and we knew the addition of Extreme Sandbox would present great potential for both businesses to grow. Lake Texoma is an absolutely beautiful area and we are excited about bringing this new type of activity to that market. We expect to benefit from the market’s strong tourism and an increase in corporate group offerings by partnering with Tanglewood.”
Located on Lake Texoma (about an hour from Dallas, two and a half hours from Oklahoma City and three hours from Tulsa), Tanglewood offers luxurious accommodations, a premier golf course and numerous activities, plus excellent meeting and conference amenities — making Extreme Sandbox a perfect addition for individual guests looking to fulfill a “bucket list” adventure, or corporate groups seeking fun and unique group outing and/or team-building activities.
“We are pleased to announce this partnership with Extreme Sandbox, bringing one of Minnesota’s premier attractions to Tanglewood to provide our guests with an option for a thrilling new experience,” said Roger W. Thiltgen, President of Tanglewood Resort Properties Inc. “We believe the resort experience is so much more than a comfortable room in beautiful surroundings. We strive to create lifelong memories with family, friends, and business associates. I can think of very few activities that come close to meeting those criteria like Extreme Sandbox does. We are thrilled to welcome this new attraction to the Lake Texoma area of North Texas and, more specifically, to Tanglewood Resort.”
Extreme Sandbox’s new Texas venue will have two full-time and two part-time staff members and will include two excavators, two bulldozers and one skid steer. The Minnesota headquarters location will continue to handle all phone/email inquiries, scheduling, and gift certificate sales through the business website, www.extremesandbox.com, and toll free number, 855-DIG-4-FUN (855-344-4486). Reservations for the Tanglewood location are now being taken and pre-opening gift certificates are available for purchase.
Founded in 2012, Extreme Sandbox launched in Hastings, Minn. (about 30 miles southeast of the Twin Cities) as a weekend-only operation with two part-time employees, a construction trailer, and three pieces of equipment. That venue now has three full-time and four part-time employees, a 6,000 sq. ft. office/meeting and event center, and seven pieces of equipment, including a fire truck.
